Kirsi Henriksson appointed Deputy Managing Director of Civilian Planning and Conduct Capability (CPCC) of European External Action Service

The High Representative of the European Union, Josep Borrell, has appointed Kirsi Henriksson as Deputy Managing Director of the European External Action Service's Civilian Planning and Conduct Capability (CPCC).

The Deputy Managing Director is responsible for the EU’s civilian crisis management missions and deputises for the CPCC Managing Director. The EU currently has 14 civilian crisis management missions in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Kirsi Henriksson has acted as Director of the Crisis Management Centre (CMC) Finland since 2018. She has extensive experience of EU civilian crisis management missions. She has served as Head of Mission of the European Union Capacity Building (EUCAP) mission Sahel–Niger and worked in EU missions in Libya, Iraq and Mali.

The post is important for Finland, as Finland makes a significant contribution to the EU’s civilian crisis management. Finland actively supports the development of the EU’s civilian crisis management and is seconding the fourth highest number of experts among the EU Member States. Finland has currently over 70 seconded experts in the EU’s civilian crisis management missions.
