The operating expenses of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 2009 amount to 202 million euros. The Ministry’s total budget is 1176 million euros, of which 746 million is targeted at development cooperation. In 2009, Finland's official development assistance expenditure was 916 million euros, which represents approximately 0.47 per cent of GNI.
At the start of 2009, a total of 1607 persons were employed by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and its diplomatic and consular missions abroad. Their average age of the personnel was 47 years, and 1028 of them were women.
The network of Finnish missions abroad covers 97 offices, of which 90 are located in different countries and seven are permanent missions to international organisations.
